The Orthodox Church is the original Church founded by Jesus Christ. As recorded in The Acts of the Apostles (New Testament), its history begins with the descent of the Holy Spirit to the disciples assembled on Pentecost after the Lord’s Resurrection. The Church has existed in unbroken continuity from that time until the present. The teachings of the Church are concerned primarily with the salvation of Mankind through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Basic beliefs are iterated in the Nicene Creed (the “Symbol of Faith”). The Church engages all the human senses in worship. Everything we see, hear, smell, touch, taste or do in the Orthodox Church has only one purpose: to lead us closer to God.
